Our story begins with a simple word: Nordes.

For locals, Nordes is the wind that brings clear skies, sunshine and good waves to this corner of Galicia. For us, it represents something more. It’s a way of life built around the ocean, community, adventure and a deep connection to the place we call home.

Since 2017, we’ve been welcoming guests from all over the world to discover the wild coastline of Ferrol. What started as a small surf and accommodation project gradually grew into something much bigger. Over the years we’ve hosted solo travelers, families, surfers, hikers, remote workers and curious explorers, many of whom arrived as guests and left as friends.

As Nordes evolved, so did our vision. We wanted to create a place that reflected not only our passion for surfing, but also our love for hospitality, local culture and meaningful travel experiences. That journey has now brought us to Nordes A Cochera.

Located in a historic building that once served as the gateway to Cobas & Esmelle, A Cochera marks a new chapter for us. In the past this was where horse-drawn wagons and travelers would stop before continuing into the village and surrounding coastline. Today, while we’ve carefully preserved the character and history of the property, we’ve added our own touch along the way, creating a space that feels relaxed, welcoming and connected to the surrounding landscape. From the private rooms and gardens to the converted mill and shared spaces, every detail has been designed with comfort, simplicity and community in mind.

Nordes is run by Adri and Mariana, a husband-and-wife team who share a passion for travel, nature and bringing people together.

Adri grew up between the United States and Galicia and has spent much of his life exploring the beaches, waves and hidden corners of this coastline. After years of surfing, travelling and sharing his local knowledge with visitors, his goal remains the same today as it was when Nordes first began: helping guests experience Galicia in a genuine and personal way.

Mariana is originally from the Mexican Caribbean and first arrived in Galicia while walking the Camino de Santiago. Today she helps run Nordes alongside Adri, combining her background in yoga, design and hospitality to create a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel comfortable, relaxed and at home.

Together, we run Nordes as a family project. We believe that the small details matter, from sharing local recommendations and surf forecasts to making sure guests feel comfortable, cared for and at home during their stay. We may not be the biggest accommodation on the coast, but we take pride in offering something personal, authentic and built with genuine care.

Whether you’re visiting to surf, explore the beaches, walk the coastal trails, work remotely or simply slow down for a few days, we look forward to welcoming you and sharing this special corner of Galicia with you.

See you soon,

Adri, Mariana & the Nordes Family
